Meet Sonia
Hello! I’m Sonia, an experienced interior designer based in beautiful Dorset.
Art and design have always been my passions, and my journey has taken me through the rich worlds of both. With a background in History of Art and over 20 years in the interior design industry, my career began under the mentorship of BIID interior designer Mary Barber Fray. This early experience in high-end interiors sparked a lifelong love for thoughtful, elegant design.
Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients—from private homeowners to developers and national hotel chains - each one shaping my approach and deepening my expertise. In 2011, I founded Aucott Interior Design, a studio built on a love of heritage properties and hospitality interiors.
My mission? To make timeless, classically inspired design accessible. I believe in creating spaces that balance historic charm with modern needs - embracing beauty, sustainability, and functionality in equal measure.

When I’m not designing, I’m mum to Bella and Leo - my greatest inspirations. Travel is a big part of our family life, and the art, architecture, and interiors we encounter (not to mention the food!) continually feed my creativity and broaden my design perspective.
Guided by my Christian faith, I run my business with honesty, integrity, and a commitment to reflecting my clients’ values in the spaces we create.
