Wimborne Cottage - Country Cottage Interior Design in Dorset

Our interior design team was appointed to redesign the Master Bedroom and En-suite of a former National Trust cottage in Wimborne. The client sought a sympathetic update that retained character while improving functionality. The original bathroom layout, including a corner bath and oversized fireplace, was reimagined to suit modern living.

We removed the existing suite and created a spacious walk-in shower with green ‘grass wall’ tiles, a Neptune vanity unit, and polished chrome Victorian heritage taps. Due to access constraints, the new freestanding bath was hoisted through the dining room ceiling. In the bedroom, we reshaped the chimney breast and finished it with breathable lime mortar. A reclaimed antique fire grate was restored and installed to enhance the room’s heritage feel.

To improve storage and layout, we custom-built a wardrobe and matching bedside furniture. A wool loop pile carpet was laid, and we sourced new curtains, bed linen, and soft furnishings. The design was completed with the client’s antique pieces, artwork, and decorative plates, creating a refined and characterful country cottage interior.
